Avid Bookshop presents authors Amina Cain, Frank Montesonti, and Amar Ravva on Friday, July 28, 2017, from 6:30pm - 7:30pm at our Prince Avenue bookshop. There is no admission charge.
Amina Cain is the author most recently of the short story collection Creature (Dorothy, a publishing project, 2013). Her work has appeared in publications such as n+1, The Paris Review Daily, Bomb, Full Stop, and Puerto Del Sol. She is working on a novel, The Energy of Vitoria, as well as a book of essays on the space of reading and writing fiction.
Frank Montesonti is the author of two full-length collections of poetry, Blight, Blight, Ray of Hope, Winner of the 2011 Barrow Street Book Prize chosen by D.A. Powell, and the book of erasure, Hope Tree (How to Prune Fruit Trees) by Black Lawrence Press. His poems have appeared in journals such as Tin House, AQR, Black Warrior Review, Poet Lore, and Poems and Play, among many others.
California-based writer Amarnath Ravva is the author of American Canyon, a 2015 Pen Center USA finalist in creative nonfiction published by Kaya Press. For the past decade, he has helped run and curate events at Betalevel, a venue for social experimentation and culture located in Los Angeles’ Chinatown. He currently serves as an Assembly District Delegate in the California Democratic Party for AD 51 (Northeast Los Angeles).
