Avid Bookshop is a locally-owned, Athens, Georgia-based business. The original location opened on Prince Avenue in 2011, and our second location opened in Five Points in November 2016. The shops regularly hold events such as readings and book signings, kids' story times, poetry nights, workshops with authors, and more. Avid is a New York Times-reporting store. Both locations of the shop are cozy, but we are able to accommodate larger events thanks to partnerships with other venues and organizations , such as the Athens Regional Library, UGA's Willson Center, Athens Ciné, and Piedmont College. We host more than 200 events every year.
