Staff Reviews

Caleb Zane Huett writes books that are a joy to read and also teach important life lessons using his zany, sharp humor. His newest is called Buster, and it's about a therapy dog whose person is a child with anxiety. While this subject can be heavy, Huett has created a story that will give children (and parents) language to describe what anxiety can do to them. With spot-on descriptions of physical manifestations of anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and how to break the loop, Huett has achieved a milestone: writing a book that is funny that will give children with anxiety tools to address what they're feeling, why they're feeling it, and how they can learn to keep it a bay, when possible. This book will give you all the feels.

Hello, fellow dogs! Be sure to fetch this book for your favorite humans who might need a dose of sensitivity, warmth, and heaps of humor that only Caleb Zane Huett can inject into a story about the zany, fun world of dogs! This tale is told from the perspective of therapy dog Buster who has been assigned to help (while still attempting to remain inconspicuous) Tonio, a boy with anxiety. Like Pixar's Inside Out, this accessible story portrays a rollercoaster of those hard-to-explain emotions with perfect descriptions. It will help family members understand and communicate a little better, or at the very least, give them something to chew on.

Description

Buster's a therapy dog who needs to take matters into his own paws to help a boy understand his own anxiety even if it means breaking a few rules.

Buster's in big trouble. He's been dragged to Dog Court for breaking one of the most sacred of all dog rules: Never, ever talk to a human, or let a human know how smart you really are.

But he swears he had a good reason! The boy he's been taking care of, Tonio, needed his help in a big way. You see, Tonio is afraid all the time -- afraid of saying or doing the wrong thing, afraid of making a fool of himself or (even worse) hurting someone else's feelings. His doctor thinks having a therapy dog will help his anxiety -- and Buster wants to help. He really wants to help. Even if it means breaking the rules
