Hi, Marlo! I loved your Avid Match Book submission and am hopeful you'll like the books I've chosen here for your Match Book. At the time of this writing, the books are still available. However, it's holiday season during a global pandemic, so I can't guarantee how quickly we can get you any of these (but I promise we'll do our best).
Take care, and thanks for your support of Avid Bookshop.

We've gotten to support Kiese Laymon by providing book sales at two of his Athens appearances in the past. In December 2020, we got to host him ourselves (virtually). He and Ed Pavlić treated us to an hour of conversation and connection. Laymon's star is rising quickly, and one glimpse at these recently re-released essays will reveal why. -Janet G.
Your interest in The Overstory + your affection for well-written memoirs made me think this book would be perfect for you.

I haven't read this one myself, but every customer I know who's bought it has raved about it. It was a New York Times Notable Book last year, and it's now in paperback. Bonus: it won the National Book Award for nonfiction! -Janet

This is a novel, but one I think youll like because the author did extensive research (including many, many first-person interviews). It's beautifully written, but there's not a drop of fantasy or sci-fi. Tissues required, but so worth the amazing journey.
Isabel Wilkerson's The Warmth of Other Suns is a modern classic for a reason. It's highly readable and compelling.
