Avid Bookshop invites you to the next installment of the Avid Poetry Series with Nicole Steinberg, JD Scott, Niina Pollari, and Ian Davisson. This event will take place on 10/24/13 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
Nicole Steinberg is the author of Getting Lucky, forthcoming in fall 2013 from Spooky Girlfriend Press, and two chapbooks from dancing girl press: Undressing (to be published in 2014) and Birds of Tokyo (2011). She’s also the editor of Forgotten Borough: Writers Come to Terms with Queens (SUNY Press, 2011) and the founder of Earshot, a New York reading series for emerging writers. In 2012, her work was featured in Transhistoria, the Queens edition of the Guggenheim Museum’s project, stillspotting nyc. She lives in Philadelphia.

JD Scott’s chapbook, Night Errands (Yellow Jacket Press) was selected as the winner of the 2012 Peter Meinke Prize for Poetry. His second chapbook, Funerals & Thrones, was released from Birds of Lace press in August 2013. He recently took part in a collaborative art project called Writing It All with Anne Carson, Robert Currie and Ébauche. Flavorwire named him “One of the 23 People That Will Make You Care About Poetry in 2013.” He edits Moonshot, a magazine of the literary and fine arts, from his home in Brooklyn, New York.

Two Poems on Lyre Lyre: 
Niina Pollari wrote two chapbooks, Fabulous Essential (Birds of Lace 2009) and Book Four (Hyacinth Girl 2012). She also translated The Warmth of the Taxidermied Animal by Tytti Heikkinen (Action Books 2013). She co-edits the It’s Complicated zine series with Judy Berman and co-runs Popsickle, a yearly festival that aims to unite Brooklyn’s array of reading series into one day-long megareading.
