Avid Bookshop presents Holly Terei for her book, Jacob the Flapping Dinosaur Goes to School. This event will take place on Saturday, July 14 from 10-11 am at our Five Points location. This event is free and open to the public. We encourage you to purchase a copy of the book and to get it signed by the author!
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Twins Jacob and Sarah Dinosaur have a lot in common, but they are also very different: Jacob has Autism. His brain works in a special way. Follow Jacob and his twin sister through their two very different classrooms and explore the issues that come along with it. The book's theme is love, patience, and acceptance. The author, Holly Terei, has based this story on personal experience. She has also provided educational tools about Autism at the end of the book. The bright, mixed-media illustrations skillfully depict the connection Sarah has with her brother. Pair this with the ending guidelines to help raise awareness and understanding of Autism.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Holly Terei is a wife, a mother of four, and a special needs advocate. Her passion for special needs advocacy comes from her own special needs parenting journey. Her son Noah was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of 5. As Noah grew, it became obvious that most children Noah's age would not interact with him because they simply did not know how. Inspired by her daughter's approach to Noah's disability, Holly decided to use their relationship to teach other children about autism. Through the efforts of The Noah Robert Project and their latest title, JACOB THE FLAPPING DINOSAUR GOES TO SCHOOL, the Terei family has dedicated their lives to changing the way children learn about autism, not only for their son but for all children on the spectrum.
