Avid Bookshop is hosting a book signing in celebration of Island Time: An Illustrated History of St. Simons Island, Georgia on Saturday, August 24, 2013, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Come to the bookshop to meet author Jingle Davis in a cozy neighborhood bookshop!
In lively narrative, quotes, and anecdotes, Davis and Galland illuminate the island’s storied past in a coffee table book designed to inform, entertain, and delight a wide range of readers. The book features more than two hundred contemporary photographs, historical images, and maps. There currently is not an illustrated, comprehensive, and well-researched history of St. Simons Island. Island Time is an essential book for people interested in the Georgia coast, including the twenty thousand year-round residents and countless visitors.
Jingle Davis and Benjamin Galland are both natives of St. Simons Island and have extensive personal knowledge of the island, its flora and fauna, its history, and its people, past and present. Davis worked as a professional journalist for more than 30 years, most of which she spent writing about South Georgia and the Georgia coast. During that time, she spent more than 20 years working for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution where she was a freelance writer, reporter, and city editor.
