Avid Bookshop announces the first 2014 New Town Revue on Saturday, February 8, 2014, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Performers: Gabrielle Fuentes: fictionScott Daughtridge: fictionMelanie Morgan: music  Bios: Gabrielle Fuentes is a PhD student in fiction in the University of Georgia’s Creative Writing department. Scott Daughtridge was educated in a thrift store in Acworth, Georgia. His work has been featured in Dogzplot, Curbside Splendor, The Broken Plate, Matchbook and other places. You can find out more atwww.notmuchisreallysacred.com.   Melanie Morgan grew up in a small town in Germany. In 1995 she moved with her Jamaican husband to the United States and in 2001 they decided to make Athens their hometown and raise their two children there. Enjoying everything Athens had to offer as a music town, 7 years later Melanie decided to pick up her daughter’s unused guitar and fell in love with the instrument. She started teaching herself, then moved on to take guitar lessons, playing with neighbors and eventually much to her own surprise started writing her own songs. Her songs are about anything that comes to her mind and range from social injustice to the next shopping dilemma. Mostly she plays with a band called Between Naybors, but sometimes you can see her braving the stage by herself.
