Avid Bookshop is hosting a poetry reading with Thibault Raoult and Heidi Lynn Staples on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.Thibault Raoult's new chapbook, Communist Couplets, is now available from Projective Industries. Other works include I'll Sawy I'm Only Visiting, El P.E. [physical education of the elevated train], and Person Hour.Heidi Lynn Staples's debut collection Guess Can Gallop won the 2004 New Issues Poetry Prize. She is also the author of Dog Girl (Ahsahta Press 2006) and the recently released Noise Event (Ahsahta, 2013), drawn from the ecology of her native Gulf Coast. Additionally, she has published a nonfiction work, Take Care Fake Bear Torque Cake (Caketrain 2012). Her poems have been published in numerous journals and anthologies including Best American Poetry 2004, Chicago Review, Denver Quarterly, Green Mountains Review, Ploughshares, Women’s Studies Quarterly, and elsewhere. She is co-founder and co-editor with Amy King of Poets for Living Waters, an international poetry response to the BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.An Assistant Professor of English at Piedmont College, Heidi lives in Athens, GA with her husband, daughter, cat, and front-yard veggie patch.
