When We Meet: Fourth Wednesday of the month, 6:15pm to 7:15pm - The meeting dates/formats are subject to change so getting on the email list is necessary to have the most current information.
What We Read: Racial Justice, Labor, and the South Book Club reads non-fiction books centering on one or more of these topics. As an extension of the Racial Justice Centering Committee of UGA's United Campus Workers union, we invite all members of the Athens community and surrounding areas to come discuss the history and contemporary relevance of labour and racial justice movements in our lives. Book club members will decide what books to read by voting in person or through email
How to Join: Fill out our newsletter sign up form to receive updates. Because we sometimes have to move a meeting date, being on the email list in advance of any meetings is key to getting the details of this book club in a timely manner.
Why Buy the Book From Avid: While we don't charge a Book Club membership fee, the only way we can offer you this free service is if you buy the book club books from Avid. If this is a month that you borrowed the book from the library or a friend, we ask that you remember us as you purchase gifts.
UGA's United Campus Workers union has funds available to help interested book club members who are unable to afford Racial Justice, Labor, and the South Book Club picks on their own. If interested, call the store 706-850-2843 and ask to use the UCWGA book club fund.
