Jessica Magnarella is a mother, wife, fine artist, owner/designer of mPrint Design, and wordsmith living in Athens, GA. She grew up in the wilds of Appalachia and frequently visits the tropics. This deep experience with nature and travel inspires and frequently surfaces in her writing.
Sarah Baugh is a writer and portrait photographer born and raised in Central New York. When she was younger she wanted to be a nun, but now she only hears silence when she calls out into the dark. Her work can be found in Gulf Coast and forthcoming in Sand Hills, and she was nominee for Best New Poets 2017. Sarah makes her home in Athens, Georgia with her husband and two daughters.
A lifelong writer, Samara Scheckler attributes her love of craft to the fertile exchange within community workshop spaces. Scheckler is a doctoral candidate in public administration and policy at UGA, specializing in the long-term care of our elders. As a mother, wife, daughter and friend, Samara spends her joyful days in Athens, GA.
Diana Calano is a Certified Nurse Midwife, bodyworker, and writer. She feels lucky to do what she loves.
Allyn Rippin is a writer, coach and senior center director at Athens Community Council on Aging. Her work explores our collective experience of aging, wellbeing and the pursuit of a life well lived.
Morgan Lawrence spent her childhood tucked between the pastures of Bogart and the hum of downtown Athens. Her roles as a stepmother and the manager of a busy children’s shop continually present her with the joys of youth and growth, and it is through this lens that her words find their audience. Quiet observations open a door to deeper thought as she seeks to find balance in life's private moments.
Laura Hoffman has lived in Athens longer than she thought she would. 18 years longer. She says it’s been good for her - a divergence from her previous nomadic life. A place to soak in. Laura’s clinical practice in psychotherapy, and movement therapy filter through her everyday. Writing is one way she untangles the streams of consciousness. Within her resume she is also a dancer and multimedia artist who recently opened: with partners Lisa, and Maryn, Nimbl new movement + performance space offering classes, workshops, privates, and a space for possibility. Laura is a mother, partner, friend, animal lover, and concerned human.
Erin Bach was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where she taught high school English for eight years and worked as a Cal State Northridge Writing Project Teacher Consultant. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing through Ashland University and currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband.
Laura Glenn is a native Athenian. She is a mother and wife, a licensed massage therapist and owner of Somaspace Bodywork + Movement Studio, a dancer/choreographer, and has been attempting to find time to write for the last five years. She has a BA in English from UGA and an MAT from Piedmont College and has danced with several companies throughout her 40 years of ballet and modern dance. Her work, “Memories Are Made of This,” performed at the Small Box Series, was included in the recent film, Athens Rising.
