The March 2018 Avid Listeners podcast highlights a YA title publishing in April: All Out of Pretty by Ingrid Palmer from Creston Books. Our lively discussion ranges from remembering to take out of the trash, forming a sense of self, wildcard mothers and being brave. Avid Bookshop is hosting a YA Day of Yay! at Avid on Prince on April 7th with activities ranging from a costume contest in honor of your favorite YA novel to a YA All-Women Author's Panel with Laura Silverman, Rachael Allen, and Lauren Karcz.
Our guest this month is Kate Lorraine Rascoe. Kate Lorraine is a bookseller who wears a few hats. She helps with Avid behind-the-scene office work and is also filling in for our Children’s Book Manager, Hannah DeCamp, during Hannah’s family leave after the birth of her first child. Kate Lorraine talks about being a woman and “running out of pretty.” She also gives us a peek into several fun facets of working with local schools, librarians, and students as well as why working with children and books is very heartening and encouraging to her personally.
