I fell in love with Melissa Broder after reading So Sad Today, two summers ago. She has a voice that makes you cringe because you hear horrible (and redeeming) parts of yourself in it, but she also makes it ok. The Pisces was no exception; it's mermaid erotica with purpose and no apologies. It brought me to terms with nothing-ness and everything-ness all at once. It taught me more about Sappho. It was, in a word, thrilling.
