Julie is a bookseller and Avid’s book subscriptions manager. She started working at Avid in March 2018 after working in children’s publishing. She enjoys stories for all ages, so she tends to read a lot of children’s books. When she is not hiding in the bookshelves, she is daydreaming, doodling, and falling off of her unicycle.

The ambiguity of life can cause you to spin into existential despair. But fear not--we have Maira Kalman's gorgeous book, The Principles of Uncertainty to infuse whimsy and absurdity into those things that make life heavy. Full of her wondrous paintings and handwriting, this book is an absolute delight!

Kelly Link is one of my favorites!! She’s a writer of the absurd who stretches language and situations to make you realize you’ve been looking at everything wrong the whole time. These short stories feature wizards in treehouses, enchanted bags, and more. Be prepared for things to get weird in the best way.

I love Maureen Johnson! Pick up this book if you want to be whisked off on a whirlwind European adventure with a scavenger hunt structure. It's basically a modern wanderluster's fairytale.

Pretty sure you've heard of this one already, but it ranks high on my list of John Green books. If you love scavenger hunts, poetry and literature, complex and believable YA characters, a bit of suspense, and heartfelt writing, read this one and DFTBA!

A story about friendship and family; grief and loneliness; different kinds of love; and the purpose of fiction. The story revolves around Marin and her best friend from home, Mabel, who has flown from CA to Marin’s dorm in Upstate NY in an attempt to convince her to come home for the holidays. It’s a quietly devastating story with incredible writing and emotion that sneaks up on you.

This poignant story paints those subtle shifts from childhood to adulthood for Rose as she spends time at a lakehouse with her parents, who are going through a rough patch, and her younger friend Windy, who suddenly seems immature. It's a quiet story, full of melancholy and growing pains, but still so lovely and achingly honest.

Have you seen his hat? I'm sure somebunny has...With deadpan humor, this book will make you laugh in alarm.
